Movie Talk: Avengers Age of Ultron
Posted in: Culture
One in a long line of recent superhero blockbuster movies, Avengers: Age of Ultron brings together a group of superheroes such as Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Hawkeye and Black Widow.
Ultron is the villain of the film and the good guys have to battle him in order to stop him from destroying the planet.
It has already proven to be popular enough to become the 6th most popular film of all time, just behind Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 and just ahead of Frozen.
Joss Whedon directs an all-star cast that includes the likes of Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America and Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow. The action kicks off when the Avengers carry out a raid in an Eastern European country and find twins with superhuman speed and someone who can manipulate other people's minds.
A huge amount of destruction follows and fans of action-packed movies should love how the fights and battles rage from one place to another. The Avengers even end up fighting among themselves and it all looks for a while as though as the bad guy might win. Of course, in the end the Avengers win but the credits give us a glimpse of what evil plans we can expect from the next instalment.
This is a slick, big budget blockbuster that delivers everything you could expect from it. It doesn't provide a huge amount of subtlety or length dialogues but it does keep the action levels high as the characters do battle.
Whether you enjoy this movie or not probably just down to whether you like this kind of superhero action movie or not. If you do then the non-stop action will take your breath away. If you don't then you will probably just wonder what all the fuss is about.
