We all need a daily dose of energy boosting meal in order to survive a whole day of errands, whether at work, in the gym or just out shopping with the girls. But we just don't have enough time (or energy) these days, yes? Hence, opting for Energy Balls or most commonly known as Protein Balls is pretty much a tactical solution. According to Robyn Coale, RD and owner of Nutshell Nutrition in New York City, "Energy balls offer a satiating combination of protein, carbs and fats. Plus, they're totally customizable and portable." This is basically good news since most of us are always on-the-go!

If you want to save yourself some money (and the long list of ingredients to make one), below are some protein and energy balls that's available online for purchase:

Our current favourite: Raw Health Organic Fruity Coconut Energy Balls, £1.99

Bounce Cacao Orange Protein Ball, £1.89

Bounce Apple & Cinnamon, £6.75

Bounce Natural Energy Ball - Almond 'Protein Hit', £19.99

And if you're looking to make your very own Energy Balls at home, below is an irresistable protein ball recipe to try:

Superfood Energy Balls

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup old fashioned oats
  • ½ cup almond butter
  • ¼ cup ground flax seed
  • 2 Tablespoons superfood berry mix or favorite dried fruit
  • 3 medjool dates, pitted
  • 1 Tablespoon maple syrup
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon

Method:

1) Combine dates, almond butter and maple syrup in food processor and pulse until dates are fully chopped and everything is combined.

2) In a bowl mix together oats, flax seed, dried fruit and cinnamon. Add date and almond butter mixture and stir until fully combined. Roll into 1 inch balls. Place balls into an airtight container and store in the fridge or freezer for snacking throughout the week.
