Ethan is a 20 years-old model from New Jersey who, after modelling for several brands and campaigns such as Journeys Shoes and Rum Jungle Italia, has now started the acting career in Making It to Mass, By the Dashboard Light and Equity.
He really seems enjoying both the fashion and cinema industry and, at such a young age, it is impressive and he can surely be taken as an inspiration from his peers who want to start the modelling or acting career.
I was pleased to have the chance to interview him exclusively for My Yellow Canary so, to know more, keep reading and don’t forget to leave a comment and follow The Canary!
Daniela Pisciottano: Hello Ethan, thanks for letting me interview you! So, let’s start by you telling me a little about yourself; how long have you been modelling for now?
E.W.: My name is Ethan Willhouse. I am 20 years old and currently residing in New Jersey. I started with modelling when I was 16 years old and took a break from it when I was 17. I started back into the modelling industry when I was 19 years old and have been committed ever since.
D.P: Is there a model that has inspired you to start doing this job?
E.W.: Nobody really inspired me to start modelling. I always wanted to give modelling a try on my own. There were a couple models I looked up to when first starting out though. Francisco Lachowski and Julian Schratter were two models I really admired. They both had really fun personalities, which reminded me of my own. They also were booking great campaigns and were both successful individuals in the industry.
D.P.: That sounds cool, but we all know that every job has pros and cons, so which are the pros and cons of modelling that you've encountered so far?
There are a lot of pros to modelling. First, modelling gives great opportunities to meet new people every day. Second, there are so many beautiful places and locations to encounter while modelling for shoots. Personally I do not think that there are too many cons to modelling. However, as a model you have to know what you’re getting yourself into before signing up. Do your research so you know what is expected. Also, one must educate themselves on what is real or not. Sadly, a lot of people get fooled by the scams in the industry. There are always people out there to ruin your dream. To be in this industry, one must be smart and overcome.
D.P.: (Wise man!) You have also started acting. This is great! How do you feel about that? Would acting be a better career than modelling for you?
E.W.: I love acting. I could go on forever on why I love acting and want to keep succeeding with the craft. And yes, acting would definitely be the preferred and the right career for me.
I have been working on film now and it’s just an adventure, I’m meeting lots of people, going to great locations having lots of fun. But I’m in an acting school, education is so important and I really want to be able to constantly learn, be the best I can be and never stop training and learning.
D.P.: Last but not least, the hardest question: where do you see yourself in five years?
In five years I’d like to see myself surrounded by good people doing big things. I want to have goals accomplished while setting new ones to accomplish. I want to be working full time as an actor.
He sounds confident and we are sure that passion and hard work always pay back!
