Looking for a new workout routine to try during the weekends? Why not try doing squash for a change? You might think that this is a bit of a boring sport but it is actually a high-paced and very interesting way of working out during weekends. Below, we'll give you more reasons to try it out plus tips on where to play squash in London.

The Health Benefits

The fast pace and constant movement involved in playing squash means that it makes you use up a lot more energy than many other sports do. This makes it a wonderful cardiovascular workout. It can also help you to lose weight, get stronger and gain more flexibility. You should also find that playing squash regularly allows you to improve your coordination and agility as well.  It can also provide a very nice way of relieving stress after a tough week at work.

The Equipment

You should bear in mind that this is a game that gets players very heated up, due to the amount of moving around the sport involves. This means that you would be well advised to wear light clothing that allows you to stay as cool as possible. You will also want to wear trainers that won't mark the court. Obviously, you also need a racket for each player and a ball, so you should check ahead and see if you can hire this equipment.

If you are serious about trying squash then this is a good venue to play in, as it gives excellent support to new players. You can get coached here, while players who want to play at a decent level can also access fitness and nutritional advice. Players of all levels are welcome here. Charing Cross Sports Club

This excellent sports centre has 4 squash courts that can each be hired out, making it one of the biggest squash venues in the city. Two of the courts are glass backed and all 4 of them are fully sprung. You can book a court by phone and up to a couple of weeks in advance. There are also a number of squash leagues organised here, with different experience levels catered for.

Hammersmith Fitness and Squash Centre

A top quality option for paying squash in the west of London comes at the Hammersmith Fitness and Squash Centre. You will find this recently refurbished fitness centre next to Hammersmith Broadway. Among the facilities are 3 squash courts with a viewing balcony. The official site says that they are often in demand and that booking in advance is best. You can book up to 6 days in advance.
