Oiling and Moisturising the Va JA JA? Gwyneth Paltrow Says You Should
If there's one thing we love (and hate) about Gwyneth Paltrow, it's that she basically knows a thing or two about things we wouldn't even imagine to begin with. Recently, in her website's first-ever sex-themed newsletter, Gwyneth writes about how a naturopathic doctor named Maggie Ney suggested using olive oil as lube. Yikes. And the newsletter doesn't stop there. Maggie Ney continues, "Topically, you can apply vitamin E oil or olive oil to the labia to help moisturise and strengthen the vaginal tissue." Uhm, we'll give you a moment to process all these.
Ok, back to normal programming. We're not entirely sure if our labia needs further moisturising since our very own lady parts know how to maintain its own natural moisture. However, according to women's health expert Jennifer Wider, M.D., told SELF, "Some doctors recommend small amounts of extra virgin olive oil, zinc oxide, vitamin E, or plain Vaseline to be applied to the vulva to protect the skin." But it's only recommended if you have serious irritation or any sort of infection.
But in case you want to give this advice a go, below are some oils and moisturising products that eventually nourish your hair... down there. NOTE: Body oils may only be applied on the outer skin area but we suggest you visit your doctor first before applying anything on the inside.
