Getting the best afternoon snack for your child will depend on a lot of factors. You need to think about taste (because your kids aren’t going to want to eat something that doesn’t taste good) and health as well. You do want to make sure your children are eating something healthy after all, something that will give them the vitamins and minerals that they desperately need to be healthy.

Pita Chips and Hummus

Pita and hummus are becoming a lot more popular, and for good reason. They are healthy and they taste great. Not to mention they can be customized to your specific tastes. Pita chips are generally basic but hummus comes in a variety of flavors from savory to spicy. You can definitely customize this snack to your child’s tastes and you can rest assured they are eating healthy.

Toast with Avocado

Avocados are becoming popular in a number of different foods (so it might be a good idea to keep them on hand). With snacks they can be that perfect hint of sweetness while still keeping your children healthy. All you have to do is slice up an avocado to truly make this snack something special. What your kids will especially enjoy is that they can help you make this snack.

Balsamic Tomato Quesadillas

These quesadillas are quite simple. All they require is a few simple ingredients. The best things you can include are tomatoes and avocado. Marinating your tomatoes in some balsamic vinegar will help them get a little brighter flavor that your kids will really like. When you slice them up and put them with avocado slices into a tortilla they taste even better. Just add a little of your favorite shredded cheese, fold up your taco and stick it in a pan. You can even cook these quesadillas in the microwave if your child wants to do it themselves.

Yogurt Popsicles

Yogurt is great for your kids because it has healthy bacteria that they need. But it isn’t always easy to get your kids to eat yogurt. This version just requires you to get some all natural yogurt and freeze it in popsicles molds. Your child will have a snack that tastes like ice cream but is actually a lot healthier, with real fruit and everything.
