Frozen Desserts—Yummy, But Without the Extra Pounds!

We’re all for the warm weather that our skin will be soaking up in the next few months. But when it’s warm out, our bodies simultaneously crave for the cold—especially for filling, frozen desserts. It’s not like we can turn the oven, though, and we especially can’t risk the extra pounds with the beach days drawing nearer. The solution? Frozen desserts made with healthy ingredients! Here we compile a list of no-bake sweets made with natural, whole ingredients that can help battle the heat and keep the pounds off!

Salted Date Caramel Chocolate Pie

This layered no-bake pie is a nutrition powerhouse. It contains a dose of healthy fatty acids such as omega 3’s and monounsaturated fats from the hemp seeds and various nuts, supplies some protein, and sources its sweetening agent from dates and honey. Frozen Yogurt Bars

We’re pretty close to ice cream cookie sandwiches here, but to cut down on all the sugar and add in more good-for-you ingredients, yogurt is substituted for ice cream, and good old graham crackers for cookies. Vegan Key Lime Pie Bites

The sunny burst of key lime pies are reminiscent of bright summer skies. Having it in a vegan, no-bake, easy-bite version is just a bonus! This one is made of key limes (of course), coconut milk, and cashes. Agave nectar is used as the sweetener. Recipe from Minimalist Baker here.

Yogurt Bark

If you’re in need of something crunchier, try a healthier bark like this one! It’s almost a no- brainer to make, and incredibly easy to customize, too. Make Greek yogurt and honey as your foundation and add cranberries and raisins, but if you’re up to it, you can switch the toppings and go crazy: dried fruits, slivered nuts, and even some dark chocolate chips would work! Peanut Butter Banana Yogurt Ice Cream

Finally, the epitome of all frozen desserts: ice cream. But healthy. Ridiculously healthy and easy to make. This one is packed with all healthy sources of macronutrients: bananas for healthy carbs, peanut butter for healthy fats and protein, and Greek yogurt for protein and carbs. Some chocolate chips are thrown in, because why not? Blend all ingredients found in this recipe, and you’re good to go.
