We're finally in the second half of February... and if you're still sticking to your fitness resolution, then we salute you! However, if you're already thinking of giving up, here's a better way to motivate yourself. We’ve put together the biggest trends in fitness this 2016 so you'll be able to keep track with your healthy lifestyle:


The need to count your every step, every mile you jog and every exercise you perform is gaining popularity around the world. Fitness gadgets – no matter whether it’s the simplest fitness bracelet or super-modern smartwatch – takes the first spot in our list of fitness trends in 2016. Gadgets track various aspects of your life 24/7: your heartbeat, sleeping schedule, the number of steps you make, the number of miles you jog or ride on a bicycle and many other things. 

Bodyweight exercises

Fighting excess weight using only your own weight is very convenient, as it doesn’t require you to have any fitness equipment to start losing weight. All you need is your own body. And the motivation to burn some calories, of course. Another benefit of bodyweight exercises is that you get the chance to master the proper form of performing basic exercises such as squats, push ups and pull ups.

High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is an extremely effective way to burn fat fast, and this type of training is expected to gain huge popularity this year. HIIT combines aerobic and strength training, it boosts endurance and helps build lean muscle mass. But more importantly, it creates the afterburn effect, which is why HIIT helps burn more fat and calories than regular aerobic or static exercises. The metabolism is boosted for the next 48 hours after you crawl out of the gym. 

Strength training

Whether you do strength training with your own bodyweight or with dumbbells/barbell, the health benefits are clear: you strengthen the bones, you lower the risk of developing diabetes and heart diseases, while lean muscle mass appears instead of fat. And not to mention that your lean body gives you confidence!

The cylinder made of soft foam – foam roller – is gaining popularity in 2016. Foam roller helps warm up the muscles before the training as well as recover after an intense training. It can even replace massage to some degree.
