Trainwreck is a new romantic comedy that has received some terrific reviews and looks like it could be one of the smash hits of the summer. It stars Amy Schumer and Bill Hader, along with the likes of Colin Quinn, Brie Larson and Vanessa Bayer. It is directed by Judd Apatow and follows on from his previous success with Bridesmaids and This is 40.

Schumer plays Amy, who is told by her father at an early age that he is getting divorced from their mother because monogamy isn't something realistic. The action then moves forward to show us a grown up Amy. She thinks that she is a free spirit but to others her life is a mess, as she drinks heavily and sleeps around a lot.

Things start to change in Amy's outlook when she is sent to interview a sports doctor, played by Hader. They hit it off and she starts to wonder whether a life of monogamy is possible and desirable after all. After spending a night together she panics about the possibility of the relationship getting serious.

At the same time that this happens, her seriously ill father gets moved into a nursing home, later dying there. Amy's relationship with her sister Kim (played by Brie Larson) is also explored in the film. An amusing little film within the film stars Daniel Radcliffe and Marisa Tomei.

Trainwreck has received good reviews from the critics. At the box office it quickly recouped its budget and has gone on to become a financial success.

The smart jokes, believable acting and a clever plot all help to drive this movie along nicely. It is also really rather sweet at times, as well as having outrageous and raunchy moments.

Trainwreck doesn't really bring anything new to the big screen but it is a funny and likeable film that does a pretty good job of showing the modern world of relationships from a woman's perspective.
