Posted in: FILM THIS WEEKEND
Yes, The Doctor is in! And now is the time for us to hit the theaters in numbers to catch the latest Marvel offering.
While Marvel fans and more precisely Doctor Strange fans have a big reason to watch the film, there’s also something for the rest of us (cough, Benedict Cumberbatch). Apart from the obvious, we need to stay caught up when the next Avengers movie releases, because apparently the Doctor has a role to play in bringing the Avengers together in the film. Also, it’s going to be a super entertaining Marvel style film with hints of darkness, that we really cannot afford to miss.
Wondering what the movie has in actually got in store? Here’s a little cheat sheet for you to be less clueless before watching the film this weekend!
This is going to be an Original Story
The film is going to be the original story of the transformation of Stephen Strange into a reality-bending sorceror. After the renowned surgeon loses his abilities to practice as an aftermath of an accident, he goes on a search to find a cure that leads him to acquire magical abilities instead. So, even if you are not pre-caught up with the comics - the film will do most of the explaining!
The Ancient One
Tilda Swinton, appears as the Ancient One from the comics. Strange comes in contact with the Ancient One on his journey to find a cure for his hands after his accident. It is the Ancient One who takes him as an apprentice and teaches him the mystical arts.
The Doctor’s Nemesis
While Mads Mikkelson has been roped in as the antagonist inthe film, we must also keep a lookout for Strange’s biggest nemesis from the comics - Baron Mordo being portrayed by Chiwetel Ejiofor
The Doctor Has a Suave Mansion
We might be used to see Cumberbatch calculating away in his mouldy apartment at 22 Baker Street, but Stephen Strange has a awesome mansion located at 177A Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village, New York which is what dreams are made of. At least in the comics. We can’t wait to see how the silver screen adaptation of it looks.
Rachel McAdams’s Mysterious Character
While speculations had been on ever since her joining the cast of Doctor Strange, turns out Rachel McAdams has a much smaller role to play in the film. She plays the character of Christine Palmer, a nurse who worked with Strange prior to his accident.
