Many traditionalists will tell you that the best thing you can do for your living room is to paint it a soft, neutral color and add some decorative accents. But why should your living room look plain and boring when you can design it otherwise? Think about how much time you spend in your own living room. Do you really want it to be boring, or fun? The new style is to make your living room a more inviting space in any parts of your house. It is, after all, your main entertaining area.

Mint Green

One popular color right now is actually mint-y green. Despite it being a softer color compared to the others, it gives your living area a style and shade of its own. With your mint green walls, you can accent it with pale pink, browns and even wild patterns if you want to really make your own mark.

Gray-Blue

The solid shades of gray may not be as popular anymore, but there are a lot of different modern variations now such as the color gray-blue. This shade adds in some style and a little bit of dimension to your room without completely overpowering it.

Red

Go big or go home, right? With a bright color like red, you can really make your room pop as much as you want. You’ll also be able to make it seem more warm and inviting to anyone who comes in which is definitely important when you’re interested in hosting events.

Stripes

Have some fun with your living room. It’s probably the room in your house that you’re going to spend the most time in after all. So make it a fun and interesting place to be. By adding stripes into your living space, you can use any colors that you want and you’ll be able to really express your individuality.

Pale Blue

This color is actually great for your room because it provides a softer color for those who may want to try out something new. This color will also allow you with a lot of freedom in your design choices because there are so many colors that you can use to accent your living room.

Yellow

If you’re still not sold on the bright or bold colors, you can opt for a softer yellow. Make sure that you liven it up a bit with some bright and bold accents as this will help your living room look more classy and inviting.

This year is all about getting a little more bold and lively with your colors. But it doesn’t mean you have to paint your walls with bright and vibrant colors. Instead, you can opt for softer hues on the walls and liven it up with the accessories you use. Don’t forget your living room is the place you’ll spend the most time. Make sure that it welcomes you in.
