“Call Me Caitlyn”
“For all intents and purposes, I am a woman,” Bruce Jenner said in an April TV interview, which became one of the most discussed topics in the showbiz world and made the stepfather of Kim Kardashian the most famous American transgender.
Now Jenner, a gold medal-winning track star who set a world record in the decathlon at the 1976 Summer Olympics, presents the new look by appearing in the July cover of Vanity Fair with the headline “Call me Caitlyn.”
Having officially changed the name, the 65-year-old Jenner created a Twitter account and has set a new record of the social media: she was followed by over a million of users within a few hours.
Caitlyn’s family members and her fans from all around the world have voiced their support for Caitlyn and expressed their admiration in the decision.
“I’m so happy after such a long struggle to be living my true self. Welcome to the world Caitlyn. Can’t wait for you to get to know her/me,” Jenner tweeted.
The number of her Twitter followers skyrocketed to over a million within four hours, which is an hour faster than the United States Barack Obama’s Twitter account, which held the record before Caitlyn Jenner.
Her twitter account currently (July 3, at 20:00 UK time) has 2.32 million followers.
“Bruce always had to tell a lie. He was always living that lie. Every day he always had a secret, from morning till night. Caitlyn doesn’t have any secrets,” she said.
Being a man, in 1976, Bruce Jenner won a gold medal in the decathlon at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal.
Jenner was married three times and has six biological children – two from each marriage. For almost 24 years, Bruce was married to Kris Kardashian and raised four of her children. He co-stared with them in the popular US reality show ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’.
The former athlete underwent hormone replacement therapy and a very painful feminizing face surgery. However, Jenner decided to keep the male genitals. It is now unclear whether Caitlyn is going to undergo complete sex reassignment surgery.
